ARMOUR-LITE Multitube Single Jacket Fibre Optic Cables are typically used for outside plant (OSP) applications. These cables are suitable for direct burial ducts as well as for duct applications. This cable is a (S-Z) stranded loose tube cable with a stranding pitch of >/= 10 times the cable core diameter. The optical fibres are placed inside robust buffer tubes which are concentrically stranded around a fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP) central strength member and bound together in a helical manner by binder yarns without crushing them. Then corrugated ECCS tape is applied over the cable core for rodent protection. In addition to optical fibres, the buffer tubes contain water-blocking gel and the cable core is filled with flooding jelly to prevent water ingress in the interstices of the cable core. The cable core shall be finally covered with water-blocking tape, binders shall be applied over WBT. This cable can be traced by means of a metallic tracer machine in the field.
